Derby County Football Club Academy

Task

To help young apprentice footballers understand life beyond a world famous football club and appreciate how social media can be a powerful tool during their time in the game.

Programme

Two workshops, each of two hours in length.  The first addressed the way young players were engaging with social media; the second invited them to create new ways of using social media. Ideas were then presented back to their peer group and action taken to implement the best of them.

Results

After working together as a group the Academy set up their own Twitter account to record the progress of young scholars. This now has close to 3,000 followers and regular content creation and interaction with other players and fans.
